Gronze suggests Orio, 9.8 miles in, if you want a shorter day. There are almost no fountains before Orio, and the descent into it is steep and slippery when wet. Zarautz is a surf town on a long beach, with the Gothic Santa María la Real and the Luzea tower in the old quarter.
