Castro's municipal albergue closed on 31 August 2026 for works, with no reopening date, though Gronze still listed it in October. From Pobeña a cliff path follows an old mining railway into Cantabria. At Ontón most walkers take the N-634 shoulder to Mioño, saving 4.2 miles; Gronze prefers the longer official route because the shoulder is so narrow.
