There are no services on the route until Tabaza, 10.5 miles in. Gronze calls the approach through Tabaza and Trasona, between motorways and steelworks, one of the least rewarding stretches of the Norte, with a nasty stretch on the AS-19 shoulder. Avilés's old town is well restored, and the Niemeyer centre is across the estuary.

Run by volunteers of the Astur-Galaica association at the edge of the old town; renovated in 2026. 56 beds in one large dorm, €10. Pilgrims only, open all year.
